Amputee Prosthesis Provision
Along with our partners in Tanzania, the Desk and Chair Foundation (DCF), we aim to provide prostheses to patients who have suffered limb amputations.
The reasons for the amputations vary from snake bites to motor vehicle accidents to diabetes. These prostheses make a great difference to the lives of these patients, and the benefits are effective overnight. Benefits include greater independence in daily activities, a lower burden of care on the patient’s families, and possibly even the ability to go back into the workforce.
We provide travel costs for the amputee to come to the clinic, the cost of meals and accommodation for the length of their stay, and three days of exercises and education to help become familiar with the use of the prosthesis. This is an incredible opportunity to help significantly improve the life of a fellow human being overnight. In 2018, we have provided prostheses to 9 patients.
